Oberkofl farm in San Giacomo

Vacationing in a mountain farmhouse is really something special. In the morning, you only have to look out of the window and admire the panorama from your apartment to feel that you’re at one with nature. It’s so quiet you can feel your heart beating.

As you wait for dawn, full of expectations, we're already up and about. Freshly baked bread, delicious eggs from our happy hens, a jar of homemade jam and excellent products await you on the table. In the village, there’s a well-stocked shop and in the immediate vicinity, and you'll find some great restaurants.

The kids will enjoy themselves and learn by playing. In fact, they don't need the kind of vacation where their heads are in the clouds, but a vacation that starts in the henhouse and ends in the barn. At our farm, there are many animals to cuddle, care for and feed - there’s no rule that says “Look but don't touch”!

We are Klaus and Edith, farmers by trade, with our eldest son Maximilian and our rays of sunshine, Anna and Katharina. Along with our grandfather and grandmother, we’ve been running the Oberkofl farm as a secondary business for three generations. Since the early 1970s, we've been welcoming all those who want to spend a holiday on a real farm, whether they’ve chosen it for the first time or are now true fans of farm vacation.

You have to know that our fantastic sports and adventure program fulfils every wish. Our certified mountain guide Günther will take you to the most beautiful mountains in the Ahrntal Valley, which reach 3000 metres of altitude. You’ll have to sweat to make it up there, but you will be completely safe! The memory of this breath-taking experience (and the sore muscles) will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you're afraid that the rarefied air of the peaks will go to your head, we are happy to plan a less demanding hike for you, or some guided walks in the valley, suitable for the whole family.

Those who want to save on shoe leather can go with Willi, a certified mountain-bike guide who can offer you a fun family camping trip, a demanding dirt road course or a tour for real experts. Willi's the one who will take you to a workshop where you’ll learn how to take care of your bicycle and do small repairs, like real do-it-yourself experts.

And the greatest thing about this offer is that it’s included in the price of the apartment.

• The Premiumcard for our guests allows you to freely use public transport (bus and train) at no charge throughout South Tyrol.
• You can help yourself to the vegetables in our vegetable garden.
• At any time, you can rejuvenate in our room of wonders (infrared sauna).
• As mentioned above, all mountain climbing and mountain bike activities offered by our "Active in Ahrntal Valley" professionals (Ahrntal Aktiv) are free of charge for you.
• For our youngest guests, once a week there’s story-telling in the barn.
• Avoid buying sugary drinks. From every tap comes a stream of pure clear water.

As you all know, everyone likes to sleep in at least once on holiday. We also let this wish come true. In July and August, in mid-week, we take out our small wooden cart, fill it up with delicious things and take your kids to the edge of the woods for a breakfast in nature. And you can linger lazily in our comfortable beds, with solid wood structures built from our woods.

In our Wellness Apartments with panoramic views you will also have everything you want. All three apartments have several rooms and include:

• 2 separate bedrooms
• A spacious kitchen with electric cooker and oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, satellite TV, toaster, coffee machine and a wood stove that gives off a lovely warmth.
• Full sets of linens for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom
• Spacious bathroom with shower/WC, washing machine and hairdryer
• Free internet connection
• Balcony facing south
• Sauna with infrared technology in our facility
• All of the lodgings are furnished with wooden panelling and the floors of the bedrooms are made of larch wood

Perhaps you didn't know that in the skiing area of ​​the Ahrn Valley you can find all of the following:

Skiworld Valle Aurina The two ski areas of Klausberg and Speikboden, with the Rio Bianco and Campo Tures ski lifts, make up the Skiworld Valle Aurina.

A single ski pass gives you access to over 73 kilometres of slopes, while 23 lifts take you to altitudes between 950 and 2510 meters. Artificial snow systems cover the whole surface of the slopes and provide guaranteed snow in the Skiworld Valle Aurina. What more could you want?
Speikboden's toboggan run with its 10 kilometre long slope is the longest run in the whole of South Tyrol!

There is also a beautiful cross-country skiing track, located at 1600 m above sea level in the magnificent Alpine landscape of Casere.

The CASCADE pool and sauna at Campo Tures are a true highlight for all the guests in the region!

For only 45 euros per person you can have a six-day rental of’three-star ski equipment (carving skis, boots and poles) at our partner Hofer di Cadipietra's ski equipment store.

Did you know that…

On the outer part of the sheep’s wool is a lipid substance called lanolin? It keeps the water out. So even under the pouring rain, the sheep stay dry.
